ProCoderis avideo-encodingand transcodingsoftwareinitially developed by theCanopus Corporation,nowThomson SA.[1][2]

Canopus ProCoder 1.2 was released in 2002,[3]Canopus ProCoder 1.5 in 2003 and Canopus ProCoder 2 in 2004.[4][5]In 2005Thomson Multimediaacquired Canopus in order to bolster theirGrass Valleybroadcasting and network market.[6][7]As of 2009ProCoder is offered as a part of Thomson Grass Valley video products under the name Grass Valley ProCoder.[8]Grass Valley ProCoder 3.0 was released in 2007.[9][10][11]
