Puerto Rico senatorial district III

Puerto Rico senatorial district III,also known as thesenatorial district of Arecibo,is one of theeight senatorial districtsofPuerto Rico.It is currently represented byElizabeth Rosa VélezandRubén Soto Rivera(both from thePopular Democratic Party).

[edit]Senatorial district III has an approximate population of 470,250.[1]It covers the following municipalities:
In previous distributions, the territory covered by senatorial district III has changed. In 1983, the district included the municipalities ofIsabelaandMorovis.In the 1991 redistribution, Isabela was assigned to thedistrict of Mayagüezand Morovis to thedistrict of Guayama.MeanwhileToa Altawas assigned to Arecibo.[2]
In the 2002 redistribution,Moroviswas reassigned to the district while Toa Alta was reassigned to thedistrict of Bayamón.[3]
