Pyworthyis a village andcivil parishin the far west ofDevon,England. It forms part of thelocal government districtofTorridge.The parish lies to the west of the town ofHolsworthy.It is surrounded clockwise from the north-west by the parishes ofBridgerule,a small part ofPancrasweek,Holsworthy HamletsandHolsworthy,andClawton.Its western border follows theRiver Tamarwhich forms the county boundary withCornwall.[1]In 2001 its population was 689, up from 429 in 1901.[2]

There is a 13th-century church dedicated toSaint Swithinin Pyworthy, and it is one of the few old Devon churches having aclerestory,the others beingNorth Molton,South Molton,Cullompton,TivertonandPoltimore.
