Qianxi County(simplified Chinese:Thiên tây huyện;traditional Chinese:Thiên tây huyện;pinyin:Qiānxī Xiàn) is a county ofHebeiprovince, China. It contains the northernmost point ofTangshanCity which administers it.

Spanning an area of 1,439 square kilometres (556 sq mi), Qianxi County is largely agricultural, despite being part of theJing-Jin-Ji metro region.[2]

Qianxi is known for its chestnuts, producing a third of China's chestnuts export. The history of chestnut cultivation in Qianxi goes back 2,000 years.[3][4]

Some of theoldest dated rockformation are found in Qianxi as part of the Qianxi stage.[5]

History[edit]

The area of contemporary Qianxi County has long been inhabited by humans. TheXizhai site[zh],aNeolithicarcheological site, is located within the county.[2]

A number of brickkilnsused in the construction of theMing Great Wallare located within Qianxi County.[2]

The area saw major fighting during theJapanese invasion of China,involving a number of Chinese generals such asSong ZheyuanandZhang Zizhong.[2]

Geography[edit]

Qianxi County is located at the southern foothills of the Yan Mountains, near to theGreat Wall.[2]The area is mostly rural, and 63% of the county isforested,the second largest proportion amongcounty-level divisionsinHebei.[2]

The county's twelve towns areXingcheng[zh](Hưng thành trấn),Jinchangyu[zh](Kim hán dục trấn),Saheqiao[zh](Sái hà kiều trấn),Taipingzhai[zh](Thái bình trại trấn),Luojiatun[zh](La gia truân trấn),Donghuangyu[zh](Đông hoang dục trấn),Xinji[zh](Tân tập trấn),Santunying[zh](Tam truân doanh trấn),Luanyang[zh](Loan dương trấn),Han'erzhuang[zh](Hán nhi trang trấn),Xinzhuangzi[zh](Tân trang tử trấn), andDonglianhuayuan[zh](Đông liên hoa viện trấn).[8]

The county's five townships areBaimiaozi Township[zh](Bạch miếu tử hương),Shangying Township[zh](Thượng doanh hương),Yuhuzhai Township[zh](Ngư hộ trại hương),Jiucheng Township[zh](Cựu thành hương), andYinzhuang Township[zh](Doãn trang hương).[8]

Other[edit]

Qianxi County also administers the Lixiang Industrial Industry Cluster (Chinese:Lật hương công nghiệp sản nghiệp tụ tập khu) as a township-level division.[8]

Economy[edit]

The county had a totalgross domestic productof 32.1 billionrenminbias of 2019, of which, 21.1 billion renminbi came from the county'ssecondary sector.[2]

The area has largeiron oredeposits, and a significantsteelindustry.[2]

The county is a significantrural tourismdestination, with major scenic spots including Jingzhong Mountain (Chinese:Cảnh trung sơn) and Qingshan Pass (Chinese:Thanh sơn quan).[2]
