Dr Ratna De Nagis an Indianpoliticianwho has been serving asMinister of StateforEnvironment Science, Technology and Bio-Technology in theGovernment of West Bengal.She was a member of the15th Lok Sabhaand16th Lok SabhafromHooghly (Lok Sabha constituency),which includes theSingurarea. She lost theLok Sabha Elections 2019toLocket Chatterjee,who was elected as aBJPcandidate from the Hooghly Lok Sabha constituency. In the2021 election,she was elected as theMLAofWest Bengal Legislative AssemblyfromPandua Vidhan Sabha Constituency.
She is daughter of Gopal Das Nag, who was Labour Minister in theCongressgovernment underSiddhartha Shankar Ray.In 2001 and 2006, she won the assembly election fromSreerampur(Serampore).[2][3][4]
A doctor (MBBSandDCH) by profession, she was Member of the Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas,Lok Sabha.[1]She was a member of the Panel of chairpersons in the16th Lok Sabha.[5][6][7]
She was sworn in as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) as a part of the21st Council of Ministers for the state of West Bengalunder the leadership ofMamata Banerjeewith the portfolios ofDepartment of Environment[8]and Department of Science & Technology and Bio-Technology.[9][10][11]
