Raymond Mhlaba Municipality(Xhosa:uMasipala wase Raymond Mhlaba;Afrikaans:Raymond Mhlaba Munisipaliteit) is alocal municipality,in theEastern Capeprovince ofSouth Africa.It was established after theAugust 2016 local electionsby merging theNkonkobeandNxubalocal municipalities.[2]

Politics
[edit]The municipal council consists of forty-five members elected bymixed-member proportional representation.Twenty-three councillors are elected byfirst-past-the-post votingin twenty-threewards,while the remaining twenty-two are chosen fromparty listsso that the total number of party representatives is proportional to the number of votes received. In theelection of 1 November 2021theAfrican National Congress(ANC) won a majority of thirty-three seats on the council. The following table shows the results of the election.[3]
