Sir Richard Hugh Turton GozneyKCMGCVOKStJ(born 21 July 1951) is a British career diplomat. He wasgovernorandcommander in chiefofBermudafrom 12 December 2007[1]to 18 May 2012 and served as theLieutenant Governor of the Isle of Manfrom 27 May 2016 until 29 August 2021.[2]

Career

Educated atMagdalen College SchoolandSt Edmund Hall, Oxford,Gozney joined theForeign and Commonwealth Officein 1973.[3]He became Head of Chancery and Political Section inMadridin 1984,Private Secretaryto theSecretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairsin 1989 and BritishHigh CommissionertoSwazilandin 1993.[3]

After that, he became Head of the Security Policy Department at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1996, Chief of the Assessments Staff at theCabinet Officein 1998 and BritishAmbassadortoIndonesiain 2000.[3]He then became BritishHigh CommissionertoNigeriain 2004, Governor andCommander-in-ChiefofBermudain 2007 andLieutenant Governor of the Isle of Manin 2016.[4]

Family

He married Diana Edwina Baird in 1982 and has two sons.[3]
