Richard Alan Schroeder(born October 29, 1961) is an American former competitionswimmerwho was abreaststrokespecialist and two-time Olympic gold medalist.

Schroeder represented the United States at the1984 Summer Olympicsin Los Angeles, California. He earned a gold medal by swimming the breaststroke leg for the winning U.S. team in the preliminary heats of themen's 4×100-meter medley relay.At the 1984 Olympics, he also competed in themen's 200-meter breaststroke,finishing fourth in the final with a time of 2:18.03.[1]

He also represented the United States at the1988 Summer Olympicsin Seoul, South Korea. He won a gold medal swimming the breaststroke leg in the final of themen's 4×100-meter medley relayfor the winning U.S. team. He also finished sixth in the final of themen's 100-meter breaststrokeevent with a time of 1:02.55.[1]
