Robert Lindstedt(born 19 March 1977) is a Swedish former professionaltennisplayer who specialized in doubles. He turned professional in 1998, and reached a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 3 in May 2013. Lindstedt won his firstGrand Slamtitle at the2014 Australian Openwith partnerŁukasz Kubot.He has also reached four finals at theWimbledon Championships:in2010,2011and2012alongsideHoria Tecăuin men's doubles, and in2019withJeļena Ostapenkoin mixed doubles.

Lindstedt has won 23 doubles titles on the ATP Tour, including one atMasters 1000level at the2012 Western & Southern Open.He represented Sweden in theDavis Cupfrom 2007 to 2021, as well as at the2012 Olympic Games.

Early years[edit]

Lindstedt played college tennis in the United States, playing first atFresno State Universitybefore following coach Peter Smith toPepperdine University,where he completed his collegiate career. While at Pepperdine, he teamed with Kelly Gullett in doubles competition. They were runners-up at the 1998 NCAA individual competition at theUniversity of Georgia,receivingall-Americahonors for the second year in a row.

2007–2008[edit]

Lindstedt won two doubles titles in 2007, the first in Mumbai withJarkko Nieminenagainst IndianRohan Bopannaand PakistaniAisam-ul-Haq Qureshi.The second came paired withJordan Kerrin Tokyo, beatingFrank DancevicandStephen Huss.In 2008. Lindstedt paired withMarc Gicquelto win the Washington tournament and was a semifinalist at the ATP Master Series event in Indian Wells withRichard Gasquet,in Tokyo withJordan Kerr,and in Kitzbühel withJürgen Melzer.

Robert was part of a team includingRobin Söderling,Thomas Johansson,and coachPeter Carlssonwho beat the Russian tennis team (ofDmitry Tursunov,Igor Andreev,andMikhail Youzhny) 2–1 in theARAG World Team Cupin Düsseldorf.

2010: Four titles, First Wimbledon final with Tecău[edit]

Lindstedt reached his first Grand Slam final at Wimbledon, with long-time partnerHoria Tecău.

2011: Second Wimbledon final with Tecău[edit]

Lindstedt reached his second Grand Slam final again at Wimbledon withHoria Tecău.

2012: Four titles including a Masters 1000, Third Wimbledon final in a row, Top 10 year-end ranking[edit]

Lindstedt andHoria Tecăuof Romania reached their third Wimbledon final in a row. They also defeatedAlexander Peyaof Austria andBruno Soaresof Brazil to win theSwedish Open.[1]

2013: World No. 3 in doubles[edit]

Robert andNenad Zimonjicof Serbia partnered during the first three months; they won theRotterdam Opentogether. Later, Lindstedt played withDaniel Nestorand reached the final of theBarcelona Open (tennis)on clay at their second tournament together. Lindstedt scored his first win overthe Bryan brotherswith Nestor before they stopped playing together.

2014: Australian Open doubles champion with Kubot[edit]

Lindstedt andŁukasz Kubotof Poland won theAustralian Opentogether, after failing to win a match before the Grand Slam event.

2021: Retirement[edit]

His last ATP tournament in his career was the2021 Stockholm Openwhere he reached the quarterfinals with Swedish compatriotAndre Goransson.[2]He also partnered Goransson in the Davis Cup.

Lindstedt enters his third season withWorld TeamTennisin 2020, after making his debut with theWashington Kastlesin 2018, and playing a season with theSpringfield Lasersin 2019. It was announced he will be returning to theSpringfield Lasersduring the 2020 WTT season set to begin 12 July.[3]
