Roland Black(born 22 July 1971) is a Northern Irishcricket umpire.[1]He has been an umpire since 2006.[2]His name was added toICC Associate and Affiliate Umpires Panelin 2016.[3][4][5][6]

On 14 July 2016, he stood in his firstOne Day International(ODI) match, betweenIreland and Afghanistan.[7]He was initially appointed to stand in the match between the two sides on 10 July, but the match was abandoned due to rain without a ball being bowled.[8]On 5 September 2016, he stood in his firstTwenty20 Internationalmatch, betweenIreland and Hong Kong.[9]

On 30 May 2017, he was one of the two on-field umpires for the2017 Inter-Provincial Championshipmatch betweenNorthern KnightsandNorth West Warriors.[10]This was the maidenfirst-classmatch in theInter-Provincial Championship.[10]

In April 2019, he was one of four umpires awarded a full-time season contract byCricket Ireland,the first time that Cricket Ireland had offered such contracts to umpires.[11]He was one of the twelve umpires to officiate matches in the2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiertournament in the United Arab Emirates.[12]In January 2020, he was named as one of the sixteen umpires for the2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cuptournament in South Africa.[13]In January 2022, he was named as one of the on-field umpires for the2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cupin the West Indies.[14]He was also one of the two on-field umpires for the final of the tournament.[15]In May 2022, Black was part of an umpire exchange initiative with theEngland and Wales Cricket Board(ECB).[16]
