Club career

[edit]Tierney spent his youth career withSt. Kevin's Boys(which was amalgamated withBohemiansin 2018) from the age of eight.[1]Having progressed through theBohs-SKBU17s and U19s teams, Tierney came to prominence in the second half of the 2019 season with his displays.[citation needed]
He made his first-team debut in theLeague of Ireland CupQuarter Final clash withCork Cityin May 2019, scoring the opening goal in a 2–0 win.[2]He struck a further three times during his rookie season, hitting the net againstUCD,[3]Dundalk[4]andWaterford.
He made his first everUEFA Europa Conference Leagueappearance for Bohs againstStjarnanin July 2021 and scored his first European goal againstF91 Dudelangetwo weeks later.[5]
After notching seven goals and fifteen assists during the 2021 campaign, Tierney, alongside teammateDawson DevoyandUCD's Colm Whelan, was nominated for thePFAI Young Player of the Yearaward.[6]
Motherwell
[edit]On 1 December 2021, Tierney signed withMotherwellfor an undisclosed fee on a three-and-a-half-year deal.[7]He completed the move on 1 January 2022. Tierney made his debut for the club on 22 January 2022 in aScottish Cuptie againstGreenock Morton,coming off the bench in the 76th minute and winning a penalty as his side won 2–1 in extra time. His first goal forMotherwellcame on 1 February where he netted a 92nd minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw againstSt Mirren. His second goal came at home toRangers.[8][9]
Walsall loan
[edit]On 24 July 2023, Tierney joinedEFL League TwosideWalsallon a season-long loan deal.[10]Tierney scored his first goal for Walsall againstBlackburn Roversin aCarabao Cuptie on 8 August 2023.[11]
Return to Bohemians
[edit]On 20 June 2024, Tierney returned toBohemianson a multi-year contract for an undisclosed fee.[12][13]
International career
[edit]On 29 May 2021, Tierney was called up to theRepublic of Ireland Under-21ssquad.[14]He made his debut in a friendly against theAustralia U23son 2 June 2021, coming off the bench to score a last-minute winner with his first touch.[15]On 29 March 2022, he opened the scoring in a 2–0 win away toSweden U21in the2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers,on his 7th cap for the U21s.[16]
