Rubtsovsk(Russian:Рубцо́вск,pronounced[rʊpˈtsofsk]) is acityinAltai Krai,Russia,located on theAley River(Ob'stributary) 281 kilometers (175 mi) southwest ofBarnaul.Population:147,002 (2010 Census);[3]163,063 (2002 Census);[8]171,792 (1989 Soviet census);[9]167,000 (1975); 111,000 (1959); 75,334 (1939).
History

A number ofanti-Semiticincidents took place in the city in 1945.[10]
During the2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine,the city was the home city of several soldiers associated with theBucha massacre[11]and also a major destination for Ukrainian war loot.[12]
Administrative and municipal status
[edit]Within theframework of administrative divisions,Rubtsovsk serves as theadministrative centerofRubtsovsky District,even though it is not a part of it.[1]As an administrative division, it is incorporated separately as thecity of krai significanceof Rubtsovsk—an administrative unit with the status equal to that of thedistricts.[1]As amunicipal division,the city of krai significance of Rubtsovsk is incorporated asRubtsovsk Urban Okrug.[4]
Transportation
[edit]TheRubtsovsk Airportis a derelict airfield which is used most commonly by local youth for drag racing.[citation needed]
Geography
[edit]The city is located on theAley River281 kilometers (175 mi) southwest of Barnaul, the largest city and administrative centre of Altai Krai.
