Ruku (Quran)

Arukūʿ(Arabic:رُكوع,[rʊˈkuːʕ]) is a paragraph of theQuran.There are either 540 or 558 rukus in the Quran, depending on the authority.

The termrukūʿ— roughly translated to "passage", "pericope"or"stanza"— is used to denote a group of thematically relatedversesin the Quran. Longer chapters (surah) in the Qur'an are usually divided into severalrukūʿs, so that readers could identify when to make stop or pause, without breaking an ongoing topic in the Quranic text.
