Sídliskois a term used inSlovak(Czech:sídliště) which mainly meanshousing estate.Other terms associated with this term arehousing project,housing estate,settlement,orneighbourhood.In these housing projects,apartment buildingsare built in the most of the sídlisko's area, most of these building beingpaneláks.Most paneláks were built by thesocialist governmentof the formerCzechoslovakia.Such buildings remain in these housing projects and many of them are beinggentrifiedand painted vibrant colors today. These housing projects can be found inurban areas,as well as insuburbs.These housing projects were built to provide fast andaffordable housing.Most of these housing projects are occupied by various differentsocial classes.[1]People living in these housing projects usually own their apartments, but some owners rent them instead, usually as private landlords, a legal concept similar toSection 8.
