Serine/threonine-protein kinase Sgk3is anenzymethat in humans is encoded by theSGK3gene.[5][6][7]

Function

[edit]

This gene is a member of theserine/threonine protein kinasefamily and encodes aphosphoproteinwith aPX (phox homology) domain. The protein phosphorylates several target proteins and has a role in neutral amino acid transport and activation ofpotassiumandchloride channels.Alternatetranscriptional splice variants, encoding differentisoforms, have been characterized.[7]

Inmelanocytic cellsSGK3 gene expression may be regulated byMITF.[8]

Interactions

[edit]

SGK3 has been shown tointeractwithGSK3B.[9]
