TheSL Hitoyoshi(SL nhân cát) was a namedsteamhauledexcursion trainoperated by theKyushu Railway Company(JRKyushu) on theKagoshima Main Lineand theHisatsu Linebetween April 2009 and March 2024.[1]

Overview

TheSL Hitoyoshiran a return journey betweenKumamotoandHitoyoshionce a day on weekends and national holidays from March to November. The train was inaugurated to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the completion of the Hisatsu Line. A reserved seat must have been made prior to boarding. The train stopped atShin-Yatsushiro,Yatsushiro,Sakamoto,Shiroishi,Isshōchi,andWatari.

Since the damage of the2020 Kyushu floodsto the Hisatsu Line, theSL Hitoyoshitemporarily ran between Kumamoto andTosuStation.[2]

Rolling stock

TheSL Hitoyoshiconsists of an8620(8620 hình ) Class steam locomotive and three specially modified OHa 50 series (オハ50 hệ ) carriages. The interior design of the carriages was done by industrial designerEiji Mitooka. On occasion the train was assisted or hauled by a ClassDE10(DE10 hình ) diesel locomotive.

The train livery is painted chocolate with grey roofs andSL Hitoyoshimotifs and lettering in gold.

In 2020, JR Kyushu repainted theSL Hitoyoshiblack to replicate the Mugen Train from the anime filmDemon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Trainfor a limited run fromKumamoto StationtoHakata Stationfrom 1 to 26 November.[3]
