Gamma-1-syntrophin is aprotein that in humans is encoded by theSNTG1 gene .[ 5] [ 6]
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of thesyntrophin family. Syntrophins are cytoplasmicperipheral membrane proteins that typically contain 2pleckstrin homology (PH) domains, aPDZ domain that bisects the first PH domain, and a C-terminal domain that mediatesdystrophin binding. This gene is specifically expressed in thebrain .Transcript variants for this gene have been described, but their full-length nature has not been determined.[ 6]
