History

SSV Helsinki was founded in 1986 and was originally named Salibandy Sulkapallo Vuosaari. They got their current name in 2000 after merging with another local teamVuosaaren Viikingit.SSV played their first official game in the 1987–88 season of the I Divisioona (English:Men's First Division). They were promoted toSalibandyliigafor the 1988–89 season and snatched their first title in the 1992–93 season.[1]

SSV played in the very firstEuroFloorball Cupin 1993 and made their way to the finals where they lost toBalrog IK(9-2). The team finally grabbed their firstEuroFloorball Cupin 2009 after having lost all their 4 previous appearances in the finals. In the final match SSV beat theirFinnishrivalsTapanilan Erä6–5 inovertime.[2][3]
