Sadhu Meher(1939/1940 – 2 February 2024) was an Indian actor, director and producer.[1]
Life and career[edit]
Meher performed in bothOdiaandHindifilms.[2]He began his career in Hindi films such asBhuvan Shome,Ankur,andMrigaya.Later he shifted his interest towardsOdia films.[3]He was one of the actors who gained prominence inParallel Cinemain the mid-1980s.
Meher also acted inByomkesh Bakshiin the episodes "Aadim Shatru (Part 1 & 2)" and "Chakrant" as Anadi Haldar and Bishupal respectively.
Meher won aNational Film Award for Best ActorforAnkur.[4]He was conferredPadma Sriby the Government of India in 2017.He is recipient ofOdisha State Film Awardi.e. Jayadev Award for outstanding contribution toCinema of Odishafor the year 2008.
Meher died on 2 February 2024, at the age of 84.[5]
