Sairi Ito(Japanese:Y đằng sa lị,Hepburn:Itō Sairi,born May 4, 1994)[1][2]is a Japanese actress.

Career

Ito made her debut in the 2003 television drama14-kagetsu: Tsuma ga Kodomo ni Kaette Ikuwith no acting experience, playing a female researcher whose body becomes that of a young girl.[2][3]

In February 2023, she was announced as the lead actress for theasadoraseriesThe Tiger and Her Wings,based on the life ofYoshiko Mibuchi,one of Japan's first female lawyers. Ito had previously appeared in theasadoraseriesHiyokkoin 2017.[4][5]

Personal life

Ito was born on May 4, 1994, inChiba Prefecture.[2]Her mother chose the name "Sairi", and her grandfather chose thekanjifor her name: the characterSa(sa,sand)takes on the reading "sai".[6]She is the youngest of three siblings:Shunsuke Ito[ja]of the comedy duo Oswald is her older brother,[7]and she also has an older sister. Their father ran a road construction company that went bankrupt following thecollapseof thebubble economy,anddebt collectorspursued him.[8]She and her siblings were raised by their mother and aunt following their parents' divorce.[9]Her mother worked at asnack barand delivered milk[8]before becoming a painter.[10]Ito hasKorean ancestry,though she has stated that she can not speak Korean and has never left Japan.[11]She originally wanted to become a dancer.[12]

In April 2022, Ito was reported to be dating screenwriterRyuta Horai[ja],which she later confirmed.[13]
