Sankarshan Thakur
Sankarshan Thakuris an Indian print journalist.[1][2][3]Thakur currently serves as the Editor ofThe Telegraph.[4]
He was born inBiharin 1962. His work seems deeply inspired byM.J. Akbar,under whom Thakur apprenticed as a journalist for many years. Thakur was the Executive Editor ofTehelkaweekly, which he helped launch in early 2004. He has now returned toThe Telegraph,where he started his journalistic career in 1985, as the newspaper's Roving Editor. He was earlier Associate Editor ofThe Indian Express.Thakur has coveredBiharandKashmirextensively. Some of his most memorable stories came off theKargilwarfront in the summer of 1999. He won thePrem Bhatia awardfor excellence in political journalism in 2001. In 2003, he won theAppan MenonFellowship to work on a book on Kashmir which is in the making.[5]

[edit]- Thakur is author of a book based on life ofLalu Prasad Yadavtitled asThe Making of Laloo Yadav, The Unmaking of Bihar(ISBN978-8172234003); the book was recently updated and reprinted by Picador India under the title "Subaltern Sahib: Bihar and the Making of Laloo Yadav".[6][7]
- Thakur has also authored a biography ofNitish KumartitledSingle Man: The Life And Times of Nitish Kumar of Bihar.[8][9][10][11]
- In November 2015, Thakur's bookThe Brothers Biharifeaturing a dual biography of Laloo Yadav and Nitish Kumar was released.[12]
