Sasha Cooke

Sasha Cooke(born 1982/1983[1]) is an Americanmezzo-soprano.[2]

Cooke was born inRiverside, California,and grew up inCollege Station, Texas,where her parents are professors of Russian atTexas A&M University.[3]She earned a bachelor's degree fromRice Universityand trained at theJuilliard Schoolin New York.[4][5]Cooke attended theMusic Academy of the Westin 2002.[6]

Cooke won best opera recording forDoctor Atomicat the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, 2011, and again forThe (R)evolution of Steve Jobsat the 61st Annual Grammy Awards, 2018.[7]

In 2022, she played Thirza inHouston Grand Opera's staging ofThe WreckersbyEthel Smyth.[8][9]
