TheSaskatchewan Legislatureis made of two elements: thelieutenant governor[1]as representative of theKing of Canada,and theunicameralassembly called theLegislative Assembly.The legislature has existed sinceSaskatchewanwas formed out of part of theNorth-West Territoriesin 1905.
Like the Canadian federal government, Saskatchewan uses aWestminster-styleparliamentary government,in which members are sent to the Legislative Assembly aftergeneral electionsand from there the party with the most seats chooses apremierandExecutive Council.The premier is Saskatchewan'shead of government.
