Scott David DurantMBE(born 12 February 1988) is a Britishrowerand gold medallist in the Men's Eight at the2016 Olympic Summer Games.[1][2]

Rowing career

Durant, along with his brother Mason, started his rowing career atLancaster Royal Grammar School(LRGS) they have since had a boat named after them in the school boat club fleet. He competed at the2014 World Rowing ChampionshipsinBosbaan,Amsterdam,where he won a silver medal as part of the coxed pair withAlan SinclairandHenry Fieldman.[3]The following year he was part of the British team that topped the medal table at the2015 World Rowing ChampionshipsatLac d'Aiguebelettein France, where he won a bronze medal as part of the coxless four with Alan Sinclair,Tom RansleyandStewart Innes.[4]He competed in the2015 European Rowing ChampionshipsinPoznańwinning a gold medal.

He was a gold medallist in themen's eightat the2016 Summer OlympicswithTom Ransley,Andrew Triggs Hodge,Matt Gotrel,Pete Reed,Paul Bennett,Matt Langridge,Will SatchandPhelan Hill.

Awards

Durant was appointedMember of the Order of the British Empire(MBE) in the 2017 New Year Honours for services to rowing.[5][6]
