Select Sport A.S.is aDanishsports equipmentmanufacturer based inGlostrup,Denmark.

As of 2008, Select Sport provides theDanish Football Associationwithfootballs,and also several clubs in theDanish,Belgian,andPortuguesetop football leagues use Select balls.

Selectalso provides the Official Matchball for the GermanyBundesligaand Bundesliga 2 withDerbystarform 2018/19 season[1]

Select balls are used in theOlympichandballgames, as well as in theWorld Championshipand in theDanish,SwedishandSpanishmen's handball leagues, among others.

The company's U.S. subsidiary, Select Sport America, has contracts to supply soccer balls for theUnited Soccer League,[1]National Premier Soccer League,[2]NAIA,severalNCAADivision IIandDivision IIIconferences, and state high school federations inKentuckyandWisconsin.[3]

History

It was founded in 1947 byEigil Nielsen,[4]the former goalkeeper of theDenmark national team.

In 1962, Select manufactured and marketed the first 32-panelball.[5]Based loosely on thegeodesic domedesigns ofR. Buckminster Fuller,[6]it consisted of 12 blackpentagonsand 20 whitehexagons.The 32 panel configuration became the world standard for several decades. Select was also the first manufacturer of footballs without exterior lacing.[7]
