History

The Shire of Bridgetown–Greenbushes was established on 26 March 1970 with the amalgamation of theShire of Bridgetownand theShire of Greenbushes.[2]

Indigenous people

The Shire of Bridgetown–Greenbushes is located on the traditional land of theBibulman(also spelled Bibbulmun or Pibelmen)[3][4]andWardandi(also spelled Wadandi) people,[5][6]both of theNoongarnation.[7][8]

Since 2021, the shire is no longer divided into wards.[9]The nine shire councillors each represent the entire shire.
