Skudai(also spelled Sekudai) is a town inJohor,Malaysia.It is about 13 km northwest fromJohor Bahru's central business district.

Location

Skudai is located just outside the northwestern border ofJohor Bahru,alongnational highway 1.The eponymous Skudai River separates Skudai fromTampoiward of Johor Bahru.

Adjacent towns includeKulai(north),Iskandar Puteri(southwest),Pekan Nanas(west) and the Johor Bahru suburbs ofKempas(east) andTampoi(southeast).

Skudai falls within theIskandar Putericonstituency in theMalaysian Parliament,currently represented byLiew Chin TongfromDemocratic Action Party(DAP).

In theJohor State Legislative Assembly,Skudaiis represented byMarina Ibrahim,also from the DAP. She is the firstethnically Malayassemblyperson from the DAP representing the constituency.

Local

Skudai is located outside Johor Bahru's city limits, thus placing it within the jurisdiction of theIskandar Puteri City Council(Majlis Bandaraya Iskandar Puteri,MBIP). Skudai however is still well withinJohor Bahru's metropolitan areaand by extension, part of theIskandar Malaysiadevelopment region.

TheKuala Lumpur-Johor Bahru trunk road(Federal Route 1) is the main route serving Skudai. Skudai is also the southern end ofFederal Route 5which begins inIpoh,Perakand runs through the western coast ofPeninsular Malaysia.
