"Someday Out of the Blue"is a song recorded byElton Johnfor the soundtrack to the filmThe Road to El Doradoreleased in 2000, written by John,Patrick Leonard(music) andTim Rice(lyrics). It serves as one of the themes of the film and the first single of the soundtrack.[1]The song deals with a love affair that ended. But the singer believes the two will be reunited "someday soon, maybe years from now or tomorrow night."
"Someday Out of the Blue" reached No. 5 on theBillboardAdult Contemporarychart and No. 49 on theBillboard Hot 100. The song became John's most recent entry on the latter one for over two decades until it broke by the song "Cold Heart (Pnau remix)",which peaked at No. 7.[2]It also reached No. 40 in Switzerland[3]and No. 69 in Germany.[4]
Music video[edit]
The music video includes some scenes of the movie and it features John performing this song (from the background of the film) in person to being an animated character on the film. It was directed byJoseph KahnandBibo Bergeron.
Live performances[edit]
John performed this on various locations and concerts to promote the movie. However, he dropped it from his setlists later on and not played since 2000.[5]
