History
[edit]The town was founded during theAncient Romanperiod, with the name ofSumma Campanea.[3]
In thefrazioneofCustozatwo battleswere fought during theItalian Independence Wars:thefirst in 1848and thesecond in 1866.[3]
Geography
[edit]The municipality is part of the urban area of Verona and borders withSona,Valeggio sul Mincio,VeronaandVillafranca di Verona.[4]It counts the hamlets (frazioni) ofCaselle[5]andCustoza.[6]

[edit]The town's most famoussagrais called "Antica Fiera di Sommacampagna" and takes place every year during the last weekend of August, usually from Thursday to Tuesday.
