Srikanth Sastryis an Indianphysicist.He is aBoston Universityalumnus and he along withRaghunathan Srianandwere awarded theShanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technologyinphysical sciencesin 2008.

Sastry received hisPhDfromBoston Universityin 1993. Since then he has held roles as apostdoctoral researcherat theNational Institutes of Healthand atPrinceton University.In 1998 he becamefacultyfellowatJawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Researchand since 2003 he has held a position as associate professor atJawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research.He is currently aprofessorat the Theoretical Science Unit, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Jakkur campus,Bangalore.

Sastry's research interests are:

  • Slow dynamics in super cooled liquids and glass transition
  • Metastableliquids
  • Phase transitionsand kinetics of phase transformation
  • Statisticalgeometry
  • Anomalous thermodynamic and dynamic properties of water and other network forming liquids
  • Statistical mechanicsof biomolecular systems.
