Stefano Mei(born 3 February 1963 inLa Spezia) is an Italian long-distance runner who specialized in the5000and10000 metres.European championon 10000 m in 1986.

From 31 January 2021 he is the new president ofItalian Athletics Federation(FIDAL).[1]

Biography

Stefano Mei won eight medals, at senior level, at theInternational athletics competitions.[2]He participated at two editions of theSummer Olympics(1984 and 1988), he has 42 caps innational teamfrom 1981 to 1994.[3]In his career he won 8 times thenational championships.Since 2 December 2012 Stefano Mei was Federal Councillor of theFederazione Italiana di Atletica Leggera(FIDAL), in theFranco Areseleaderships.[4]
