Steinauin the Land of Hadeln is a municipality in thedistrict of Cuxhaven,inLower Saxony,Germany.
History
[edit]Steinau belongs to theLand of Hadeln,first an exclave of theyounger Duchy of Saxonyand after its de facto dynastic partition in 1296 of theDuchy of Saxe-Lauenburg,established de jure in 1260. In 1728 EmperorCharles VIenfeoffed theGeorge II Augustusand hisHouse of Hanoverinpersonal unionwith the reverted fief of Saxe-Lauenburg. By a redeployment of Hanoverian territories in 1731 the HanoverianDuchies of Bremen and Verdenwere conveyed the administration of the neighbouredLand of Hadeln.TheKingdom of Hanoverincorporated theLand of Hadelnin areal unionand its territory, including Steinau, became part of the newStade Region,established in 1823.
