Steve Schottel(born 1948) is a formerAmerican footballcoach. He was the head football coach atBaker UniversityinBaldwin City, Kansasfor the 1995 season. His coaching record at Baker was 3–6.[1][2]

Schottel resigned the post after less than a year. Before taking the position at Baker, he was an assistant coach for theBenedictine Ravens,Missouri Tigers,Louisville,Michigan State,Colorado,William Jewell,andMissouri Westernas well as several stops in the high school ranks.[3][4]

He is the son of formerDetroit Lionsfootball playerIvan Schottel.His father was a head coach ofNorthwest Missouri State Bearcats footballinMaryville, Missouriand Steve graduatedMaryville High Schoolin 1966 and was an assistant coach at the school in 1970.[5]
