TAT-7was the seventhtransatlantic telephone cable,in operation from 1983 to 1994, initially carrying 4,000 3 kHz telephone circuits betweenNew Jersey,United States andPorthcurnoin southwest England. It was owned byAT&T,British TelecomandFrance Telecom.[1]
Althoughoptical fiberhad been invented in 1970, this cable was still usingcoaxial cabletechnology.
