TNF receptor associated factor

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected fromTRAF)

TNF receptor associated factors(TRAFs) are a family ofproteinsprimarily involved in the regulation ofinflammation, antiviralresponses andapoptosis.[1]

Currently, seven TRAF proteins have been characterized inmammals:TRAF1,TRAF2,TRAF3,TRAF4,TRAF5,TRAF6andTRAF7.

Except for TRAF7, these proteins share a relatively conservedsecondary structure, including a namesakeC-terminalTRAF domain that mediates interactions with other signaling components such as the transmembraneTNF receptorsandCD40.
