G-Funk
[edit]While I am not in a position to decide who actually created the G-Funk sound, there is definately merit of at least adding a section about the long running argument of it.
Cold 187um (aka Big Hutch) claims in interviews himself that he created the sound. Here is a snippet from an interview and also the source. The fact that he claims that he created the sound warrants being included on here.
Dubcnn: Do people still ask you the question who really invented G-Funk?
- laughs* Yeah, they do! It's funny, cause people know who invented G-Funk! The people who ask me, they're telling me "You invented it!" *laughs* They know the history. But yeah, the thing about it is that I don't even live off that. It's just that I've done something, I've influenced somebody, and I wanted my credit for that influence. I innovated a certain sound in this industry and people don't give me credit for it. People just look over me, people don't even put me in nothing, even if that person don't put me in nothing, knowingly that enough people know the true story, for you guys to print that. It's bad in that sense, not to say that "The person who took it is wack for taking it" No. Music is influence, when we click together we all influence each other. That's a compliment.
If I do something good and you utilize it and you come up, that's a compliment. What's messed up, is when you don't give that person the credit, when you don't pay homage to that person. It's like learning a skill from somebody and saying you made it up, and not giving your teacher the proper credit. That's my problem with it. It's not even about this person doing something with it and winning from it, it's only about "give me my credit, give me my just due." I worked hard coming up with a theory and an idea to be different than everybody else, you know what I mean?

Whoever wrote this article...
[edit]...is obviously an ATL fan who has a certain kind of bias. First of all, "Black Mafia Life" does NOT predate "The Chronic"...it came out in February of 1993, while "The Chronic" was released in Dec. 1992. Looks like THIS person is therefore the one who isn't a "serious West Coast fan". The article also demonstrates its bias when mentioning that "Black Mafia Life" flopped even though that year was full of "commercialized and weak material". Therefore, I'm disputing its neutrality.
LOL, by "commercialized and weak material" he means The Chronic? And it's still saying "February 1992" instead of 1993 as the release date of Black Mafia Life--BubbleBabis(talk)19:18, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
Sales?
[edit]Can anyone confirm the sales of ATL's albums, I can't find evidence of any of their albums going gold or platinum.RedVodka05:07, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
I added the sales. Got it from the "Ruthless Records" wikipedia page.—Precedingunsignedcomment added by99.229.233.178(talk)04:08, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Not a band
[edit]This is not a band. They don't play instruments. I'm moving it toAbove the Law (group).--Tasc022:18, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

- It should be included. The topic directly deals with the history of the group. It is worthy of encyclopedic notation. I say yes.76.170.233.182(talk)01:46, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
New album
[edit]Sex Money Music has been released by them and there's nothing about it? --Flesh-n-Bone21:10, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
- That's not an official album. It's a bootleg or some kind. This also can be a compilation album with some unreleased tracks and someone close to the group decided to launch it with no promotion what so ever.Tasc0It's a zero!21:42, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
Appearance on "Pump up the Volume" Movie
[edit]Heads up, one of their tracks appeared in the movie "Pump up the Volume" starring Christian Slater. I believe it is on the soundtrack as well.—Precedingunsignedcomment added by70.160.225.9(talk)17:48, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
