[edit]

The following suggestions were generated by a semi-automaticjavascript program, and might not be applicable for the article in question.

  • The lead of this article may be too long, or may contain too many paragraphs. Please follow guidelines atWP:LEAD;be aware that the lead should adequately summarize the article.[?]
  • The lead is for summarizing the rest of the article, and should not introduce new topics not discussed in the rest of the article, as perWP:LEAD.Please ensure that the lead adequately summarizes the article.[?]
  • If there is not afree useimage in the top right corner of the article, please try to find and include one.[?]
  • PerMOS:CAPTION,Imagesshould have concise captions.[?]
  • Generally, avoid includinggalleriesin articles. Common solutions to this problem include moving the gallery towikicommonsor integrating images with the text.[?]
  • PerWikipedia:Manual of Style/Dates and numbers#Units of measurement, there should be a non-breaking space - between a number and the unit of measurement. For example, instead of0 mm,use0 mm,which when you are editing the page, should look like:0 mm.[?]
  • PerWikipedia:Manual of Style/Dates and numbers#Units of measurement, when doing conversions, please use standard abbreviations: for example, miles -> mi, kilometers squared -> km2,and pounds -> lb.[?]
  • PerWikipedia:Manual of Style#Section headings, headings generally do not start with articles ('the', 'a(n)'). For example, if there was a section called==The Biography==,it should be changed to==Biography==.[?]
  • PerWikipedia:Manual of Style#Section headings, headings generally should not repeat the title of the article. For example, if the article wasFerdinand Magellan, instead of using the heading==Magellan's journey==,use==Journey==.[?]
  • Per criterion 2b ofWikipedia:Featured article criteriaandWikipedia:Manual of Style/Layout#Headings and sections, this article's table of contents (ToC) may be too long – consider shrinking it down by merging short sections or using a proper system of daughter pages as perWikipedia:Summary style.[?]
  • Please make the spelling of English words consistent with eitherAmerican or British spelling,depending upon the subject of the article. Examples include:honor(A) (British:honour),harbor(A) (British:harbour),neighbor(A) (British:neighbour),neighbour(B) (American:neighbor),favorite(A) (British:favourite),meter(A) (British:metre),defense(A) (British:defence),recognize(A) (British:recognise),realize(A) (British:realise),ization(A) (British:isation),isation(B) (American:ization),orthopedic(A) (British:orthopaedic),traveled(A) (British:travelled),program(A) (British:programme),programme(B) (American:program).
  • Watch forredundanciesthat make the article too wordy instead of being crisp and concise. (You may wish to try Tony1'sredundancy exercises.)
    • Vague terms of size often are unnecessary and redundant - “some”, “a variety/number/majority of”, “several”, “a few”, “many”, “any”, and “all”. For example, “Allpigs are pink, so we thought ofa number ofways to turn them green.”
    • “Inthe year [of]2000”
  • The script has spotted the following contractions:didn't, Don't,if these are outside of quotations, they should be expanded.
  • As detailed atHelp:FootnotesandWikipedia:Manual of Style#Punctuation and footnotes, footnotes are usually located immediately after a punctuation mark, such that there is no space in between. For example, the sun is larger than the moon [2].is usually written asthe sun is larger than the moon.[2][?]
  • Please ensure that the article has gone through a thorough copyediting so that it exemplifies some ofWikipedia's best work.See alsoUser:Tony1/How to satisfy Criterion 1a.[?]

Founded by Narvaez

[edit]

According toWright, Irene Aloha (1916).The Early History of Cuba, 1492-1586.pp. 37, 59.who gets cited in some otherold papers(p.27),Pánfilo de Narváezfounded the settlement that would become Havana. Not sure if this has been litigated in academia in the hundred years since, but the sources in this article don't seem to contradict Wright.SamuelRiv(talk)05:09, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Very serious problem

[edit]

I am aware of the notice, but I still want to write that this article is unnecessarily and exaggeratedly long.JackkBrown(talk)02:29, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Does the 2019 Tornado belong in the History section

[edit]

Is the 2019 Tornado notable enough to have its own subsection in the history section. It is mentioned in the climate section and has its own article. It strange to see the sections progress Republican period, Revolution, 2019 Tornado, as if the tornado was the most notable thing that has happened since the revolution!Goodatphysicsbadatchess(talk)20:20, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
