Origins of the name Peyo
[edit]There appears to a discrepency between the French and English articles. The English version cites "Peyo" as a mispronunciation of his name by an english cousin, the French page cites it as a mispronunciation by a nephew. - I should check this to be certain, but I think it would have to be a cousin, as Peyo acquired the nickname at an early age, probably to early to have nephews yet.Fram07:22, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
- Peyo was a schoolmate of my grandfather. He told me about that story. I'm pretty sure that he gained that nickname from a nephew that had diifuclties to pronounce Pierre.Lvr12:55, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks! I would love to have such a connection to Peyo:-) I do think it is more a difficulty to

pronounce Pierrot (and that's why I also think that he acquired it in his youth, as Pierrot is a juvenile form or Pierre), but that does not mean that it can't have been a nephew instead of a cousin of course. If I have time (Worldcup starts tonight!), I'll see if I can find it in the Hugues Dayez (spelling?) biography of Peyo tonight.Fram13:44, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
- Allright, it's indeed his cousin. Hugues Dayez, "Peyo l'enchanteur", Niffle, 2003, page 26: "Peyo vient de mon prénom, Pierre. Quand j'étais petit, on m'appelait Pierrot et l'un de mes cousins, qui n'arrivait pas encore à prononcer les" r ", disait" Peyo-ot "..." (extrait d'un interview avec Thierry Groensteen de 1982 dansCahiers de la Bande Dessinée). That's settled then.Fram20:19, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
Peyo was overwhelmed by the success and his health began to fail -I think this needs a citation.—Precedingunsignedcomment added by79.125.137.201(talk)21:03, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

"Steven Strong”…
[edit]This page, and the associatedBenoît Brisferpage contain references to the character having been translated into English under the nameSteven Strong, but neither give citations for this. Members of the Tintinologist.org forums have been trying to find background for this/ these translations, and have likewise drawn a blank, although one member has mentioned that the name Tammy Tuff was used in the sixties when the stories ran inGiggle, which is coroborated bythis blog on the Forbidden Planet site, which is illustrated with examples from the strip under that name. Does anyone actually have an example of when and where “Steven Strong” appeared, if at all?Jock123(talk)15:18, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
