Isn't it weird that spin master released a beach line right after mattel released the Monster High Gloom Beach dolls? I think Mattel should sue Spin Master for that.—Precedingunsignedcomment added by94.30.31.171(talk)11:18, 1 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, doll companies usually release beach lines for the summer season.

Is there a reason the product list was removed?rouenpucelle(talk)23:43, 30 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

But it wasn't the summer season, was it? It was December 2010 when Mattel released the Gloom Beach dolls, and January when the Liv dolls beach line was out.188.66.76.196(talk)09:17, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge withKinetic Sand

[edit]

Kinetic Sand failsWP:GNG.Only substantive coverage is a couple short articles about a dog getting sick after accidentally eating it. Add two sentences toSpin Masterand redirect there.Dennis Bratland(talk)05:26, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Still failsWP:GNG.The alternative to merging is to delete the article altogether so I'm trying to keep some of the content. That YouTube video isn't a reliable source so it doesn't help us here. Note that a redirect would take your browser window directly to the article section about Kinetic Sand; it's incorrect that you'd have to wade through anything to find it. --Dennis Bratland(talk)19:12, 2 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose:Kinetic Sand is seen on quite a few non-news websites. Just because there aren't many news articles doesn't mean it's not notable, because a lot of information about it is displayed on websites such as ToysRUs.com.Derbundeskanzler(talk)19:20, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Coverage on retail sites selling the product doesn't really seem to meet the standard for "reliable sources".2601:644:101:9616:8884:88C0:2D75:97C1(talk)20:47, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge intoMagic sandinstead(changed fromKeep (Oppose merge), but rename to a generic name). this page serves a purpose, because the very reason I'm here is because I wanted to find out what was "in" Kinetic Sand. It turns out it's sometimes called "Moon sand". It also *might* be the same or similar to a 1960s toy called "Silly Sand", which you can google.Adpete(talk)00:16, 5 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
p.s. Once you use generic names and/or the chemical involved, you get more hits. e,g, here's what I'd call a RS, an online article at theAmerican Chemical Society:http://cen.acs.org/articles/93/i12/Magic-Sand-kinetic-Sand.htmlAdpete(talk)00:23, 5 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Update: I've found there is already a generic article -Magic sand- so I'm changing my recommendation to merge to that.Adpete(talk)01:12, 5 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Also it looks like the company that owns the rights to Kinetic Sand is Waba Fun. I think Spin Master is just the USA distributor, or has the USA rights.Adpete(talk)02:27, 7 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Merging withMagic sandseems like a good solution to me. --Dennis Bratland(talk)02:48, 7 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've never made a comment here and am not sure quite how to do it, but felt strongly enough that the stub "Kinetic sand" has value that I created an account. The stub "kinetic sand" had exactly the information I was looking for, while when I followed the link to "magic sand" I couldn't tell that it was talking about the same thing. I recently purchased a toy that contained some form of this sand, but it seemed dryer than what I have seen previously in store displays, so I was trying to find out more about it and/or find out if there was a way to moisten it. If the two pages are merged, I think it would be important to keep all the information that was on the kinetic sand stub. To lots of people this type of sand is a strange and cool new thing but not something that is easy to look up. Wikipedia is where I go first for that kind of information.MichelePika(talk)16:10, 29 December 2015 (UTC)MichelePika[reply]

Closing, given no consensus for any particular action, over more than 2 years; now stale.Klbrain(talk)17:16, 24 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Can’t someone add something to the history section about the company name and/or logo? It’s an unusual name for a toy company, and it’s surprising there’s no mention of a product called “Spin Master” that they took their corporate name from (if that’s the case). To me their logo looks like it should be on a dishwasher.— Precedingunsignedcomment added by2607:FEA8:A760:959:B8FA:F543:449:2A3E(talk)15:18, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
