Hosted and executive-produced by comedianJosh Adam Meyers,each episode features a guest comedian or actor, who tells a personal story, followed by singing acover songrelated to their story backed by a live band.
Development and format
[edit]Los Angeles comedian, Josh Adam Meyers launched a live show calledThe Goddamn Comedy JamatThe Roxy Theatrein West Hollywood in 2014.[1]The show features a guest comedian who performs fifteen minutes of comedy, tells a personal story and finishes the show by singing acover song,usually apoporrocksong, that relates to the story.[2]
The Goddamn Comedy Jamwas documented in atelevision specialof the same name that aired onComedy Centralin 2016.[3]The special featured stories and songs performed by comediansAdam DeVine,Jim Jefferies,Natasha Leggero,Jay PharoahandPete Davidson.[3]The following year the show aired as an eight-episode series, renamedThe Comedy Jam,that featured comedians and other celebrities.[3][4]At times the show's guests are accompanied by a special musical guest for the song portion of their set. Meyers also interviews the performers post-jam.
