The Wings of the Doveis an opera in 2 acts and 6 scenes by the American composerDouglas Moorethat uses an English-language libretto by Ethan Ayer based onthe 1902 novel of the same namebyHenry James.Commissioned by theNew York City Opera,the work premiered on October 12, 1961, atCity Center,in a production directed by Christopher West with sets byDonald Oenslager,costumes by Patton Campbell, and choreography byRobert Joffrey.[1]Written in aNeo-Romanticstyle, the work is composed in the tradition of theverismoopera ofGiacomo Puccini.[1]
