Theo Greenis anASCAPAward-winning British composer andOscarwinningsound designer.He is known for his music forThe Gambler,[1]House at the End of the Street,[2]his Academy Award nominated sound design forBlade Runner 2049.[3][4][5]and hisAcademy Awardwinningsound designforDune.[6]

Early life

Green was in the New College Choir as a chorister ofNew College School[7][8]inOxfordand later studied atAbingdon School[9]and theCourtauld Institute of Art,London.[10]

Film and TV

Theo Green’s work onDenis Villeneuve’sDunewon an Oscar for his sound design, and signaled the reunion of Theo Green andHans Zimmer,who worked together onBlade Runner 2049.[11]Zimmer worked very closely with Green onDune[12]with Green's composition "Tooth of Shai Hulud" providing the score for early scenes on Arrakis.[13] In 2017, Green was the Sound Designer for Denis Villeneuve's filmBlade Runner 2049[14][15]and composed additional musical cues.

In 2014 Green teamed up with directorRupert Wyattfor a third time withParamount Pictures'The Gambler,[16]starringMark Wahlberg,John Goodman,Brie LarsonandJessica Lange.Theo Green composed original music for the film.

In 2009 Theo Green wrote the score forWarp Films' thrillerHush,[17]directed byMark Tonderai.In 2012 he teamed up withMark Tonderaia second time for theJennifer Lawrence-starring suspense thriller,House at the End of the Street,creating a score that was awarded theASCAPPRS Film Award. The film occupied the top position at the US Box Office on its opening weekend, going on to make over $45m from a budget under $7m.[18]Since then, Green has composed the scores forKidulthooddirectorMenhaj Huda'sComedown,Steve Barker's follow up to his film "Outpost"-Outpost: Black Sunand Shan Khan'sHonourstarringPaddy Considine.

2008'sBAFTAandBIFA-winningThe Escapist[19][20][21]was Green's first feature, assound designerand additional composer, having collaborated with directorRupert Wyattpreviously on the short film, "Get The Picture".[22]

In 2022 Theo Green won anAcademy Award for Best Soundand aBAFTAforDune.In 2018 he was nominated for anAcademy Award for Best Sound Editing,as Sound Designer forBlade Runner 2049[23]and aBAFTAfor Best Sound,Blade Runner 2049,[24]and won theMPSEGolden Reel Award[25][26]

Green's score forHouse at the End of the Streetwas awarded theASCAPPRS Film Award in 2013.[27]
