TheTientsin–Pukow Railway Operation(Japanese:Tân phổ tuyến tác chiến;early August to mid November, 1937) was a follow-up operation to theBattle of Beiping-Tianjinof the Japanese army in North China at the beginning of theSecond Sino-Japanese War,fought concurrently with theBeiping–Hankou Railway Operation.TheTientsin–Pukow Railway Operationwas not authorized byImperial General Headquarters.The Japanese advanced following the line of theTianjin-Pukou Railwayaiming to theYangtze Riverwithout meeting much resistance. The Japanese advance stopped atJinan36°40′N116°59′E/ 36.67°N 116.98°EonYellow Riverafter majority of the participating Japanese forces were redirected for theBattle of Taiyuanand replaced by parts of the newly formed109th division.
Aftermath[edit]
After the stalemate atYellow Riverfrom November 1937 to March 1938, the fighting resumed resulting inBattle of Xuzhou.
