Tikar (also calledTigé, Tigré or Tikari)is aNorthern Bantoid,semi-Bantulanguage that is spoken inCameroonby theTikar people,as well as by theBedzan Pygmies,who speak their own dialect of the language.[2]A recent hypothesis byRoger Blenchsuggests that the Tikar language could be a divergent language in theNiger-Congolanguage family with an uncertain origin.[2]

Classification

The little evidence available suggests that it is most closely related to theMambiloidandDakoid languages.[2]

Dialects

The Tikar language has four dialects, includingTikari,Tigé,andTúmú.[3][4]
