Thomas Herpichis anAmericanartist who is best known for being a writer and storyboard artist on the animated television seriesAdventure Time.

History

Herpich graduated from theSchool of Visual Arts(SVA), and was known inindie cartooningcircles before he was hired to work onAdventure Time.[2]He was eventually hired on as a prop and character designer for thefirst season,[3]before storyboarding the season one episode "Freak City" and being promoted to storyboard artist inseason two.[4]

Tom Herpich's work onAdventure Timehas gained him two Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation Emmy Award wins, along with threePrimetime Emmy Award for Short-format Animationnominations: he was first nominated for thethird-seasonepisode "Too Young" in 2012, along with his then-storyboarding partnerJesse Moynihan;he was later nominated for thefifth-seasonepisode "Be More",along with his partner Steve Wolfhard; and in 2016 he was nominated for his solo work on theseventh-seasonepisode "The Hall of Egress".[5][6][7]In both 2015 and 2016, he was awarded an Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation Emmy for his work on the episodes "Walnuts & Rain"and"StakesPart 8: The Dark Cloud".[8][9]Furthermore, his solo storyboarded episode "Thank You" was screened at theSundance Film Festivaland was nominated for a Best Animated Special ProductionAnnie Award.[10][11][12]
