Thomas Weston Segura(born April 16, 1979) is an American stand-up comedian, writer, author, actor, andpodcaster.Segura co-hosts theYour Mom's Housepodcast with his wife, fellow comedianChristina Pazsitzky.Segura also co-hosts the podcastTwo Bears One Cavewith friend and fellow comedianBert Kreischer.

Early life

Segura was born on April 16, 1979, inCincinnati, Ohio,to Rosario "Charo" Lazarte, a Peruvian immigrant, and Thomas Nadeau Segura.[1]His father was a First Vice President ofMerrill Lynch.[2]

Tom grew up speaking Spanish and spent his summers inLima,Peru.[3]He graduated fromSaint Edward's SchoolinVero Beach, Florida,and fromLenoir-Rhyne UniversityinHickory, North Carolina.[4]At age 19, he overdosed onGHBand fell into a short coma.[5]

Career

Segura began stand-up comedy shortly after graduating fromLenoir-Rhyne University.On episode 568 ofYour Mom's House,he mentioned he was doing comedy in the evenings for the first few years while holding down other daytime jobs. Segura has described interning at Kopelson Entertainment and then having his first paid job in the industry as a logger, producing transcripts of reality shows such asExtreme MakeoverandMy Big Fat Obnoxious Boss.[6]

Segura has performed at theMelbourne International Comedy Festival,[7]The Comedy Festival,the Global Comedy Festival inVancouver,andJust For Laughs Comedy Festival.[8]Segura was also aSan Franciscoregional finalist onLast Comic Standing 2.Segura has been a frequent guest onThe Joe Rogan Experience.His first appearance was on episode 8.

In 2018, Segura and Pazsitzky landed a TV deal with CBS, who gave a pilot production commitment for their showThe Little Things.[9]Segura's fourth special for Netflix,Ball Hog,premiered on March 24, 2020, and a Spanish-language special was planned for the fall of 2020, before the advent of theCOVID-19 pandemic.[10]Segura's fifth Netflix comedy special,Sledgehammer,premiered on July 4, 2023.[11]

In 2010, Segura and Pazsitzky started thepodcastYour Mom's House,which they both host.[12]

Segura released a book in 2022 titledI'd Like to Play Alone, Please,a collection of humorous essays. He said about the book: "This is not a memoir, this is not an autobiography. It's a collection of stories, which is an extension of what I do as a comedian, which is I tell stories, a lot."[13]

Personal life

Segura is fromCincinnati, Ohio,[14]and has lived inMinneapolis, Minnesota;Mequon, Wisconsin;Vero Beach, Florida;andLos Angeles, California.[15]He has two sisters named Jane and Maria[16]and is related to the neurobiologist and podcast hostAndrew D. Huberman.[17]

Segura resides with his wife, comedianChristina Pazsitzky,and their two sons inAustin, Texas.[18][19][20]
