Tommy Reasoner(born October 27, 1967, inGarden City, Michigan) is a retired U.S. soccer player who spent one season inMajor League Soccer,two in theWestern Soccer Alliance,four in theAmerican Professional Soccer Leagueand two in theContinental Indoor Soccer League.He was also part of theU.S. teamat the1987 FIFA World Youth Championship.

Reasoner attendedTarpon Springs High School.In 1985, he entered theUniversity of Tampawhere he played on the school'sNCAA Division IIsoccer team in 1985 and 1986 then again in 1988 and 1989.[1] In 1989, he was selected as a first teamAll-American.[2]In 1987, he took a year off from school in order to play forU.S. U-20 national teamat the1987 FIFA World Youth Championship.Reasoner played two games as the U.S. went 1–2 in group play.[3]

Professional

During the 1989 collegiate off-season, Reasoner played for theSan Diego Nomadsin theWestern Soccer League.[4]The Nomads won the league title which placed them in the national championship against theFort Lauderdale Strikersof theAmerican Soccer League,but Reasoner did not play in the title game.[5]He returned to the Nomads for the 1990 season.[6]By this time, the WSL had merged with the ASL to form theAmerican Professional Soccer League.In 1990, theCleveland Crunchselected Reasoner in the third round of the 1990 MSL Amateur Draft.[7]However, it does not appear that he ever played for the Crunch. Instead, in 1991, he signed with theTampa Bay Rowdiesin the APSL. He would play for Tampa Bay through the 1993 season.[8][9][10]The Rowdies folded at the end of the season. In April 1994, theSan Diego Sockersselected Reasoner in the eighth round of theContinental Indoor Soccer Leaguedraft. He signed with the team on June 1, 1994. In 1995, he spent the season with theSan Diego Top Gunsin theUSISL.In February 1996, theKansas City Wizselected Reasoner in the sixth round (56th overall) of the1996 MLS Inaugural Player Draft.He played thirteen games for the Wiz in 1996 before being waived in November.[11]
