Truce of Mitawa
TheTruce of MitawaorTruce of Mitau,signed in November 1622 inJelgava(Mitawa, Mitau), ended thePolish–Swedish War (1620–1622).
ThePolish–Lithuanian Commonwealthwas forced to cede theDuchy of Livonianorth of theDaugava Riverto theKingdom of Sweden.It retained only a nominal control over the south-eastern territories nearRiga,as well as theDuchy of Courland.The truce lasted till March 1625, when a new war wave of hostilities erupted inLithuania.It was soon followed by thePolish–Swedish War (1625–1629).
