Trump Park Avenueis a residential building on the southern border ofLenox Hillat 502Park AvenueinManhattan,New York City.The 32-story building was designed by Goldner and Goldner in 1929. It now contains 120 luxurycondominiumapartments and 8 penthouses converted by real estate developerDonald Trump.

History

The structure was built as askyscraperhotel. In its first year of operation it went through three names: theViceroy Hotel,then theCromwell ArmsafterJames H. R. Cromwellpurchased the building, before finally settling on theHotel Delmonicoafter the famed 100 year old Delmonico's Restaurant relocated to the hotel. It was purchased in 1929 by New York investorBenjamin Winter, Sr.[1]

On August 28, 1964,Bob DylanmetThe BeatlesandBrian Epsteinfor the first time in their suite on the sixth floor where he introduced them to cannabis. 200,000 incoming calls were received by the hotel switchboard during their two-day stay. Fans stood eight-deep outside, held back by barricades, and the lobby and corridors were patrolled by police officers.[2][3][4]

The building was converted into apartments in 1974.[5]In 1977,Christie’sleased the Hotel Delmonico’s grand ballroom on the second floor as its first international auction house.[6]In 1990, real estate investor Sarah Korein converted it back to a hotel.[5]Trump purchased the hotel from Korein's estate in 2001 for $115 million and hired architectCostas Kondylisto renovate it.[7][5][8]The hotel was subsequently renamed Trump Park Avenue.

From 1976 to the early 1990s, the currentNew York Sports Club’s ground floor location was home to Regine's, a restaurant lounge where many celebrities would meet before going toStudio 54.Andy Warholwas a regular.[9]The building is also home to several businesses, including Scully & Scully, which has occupied a storefront in the building since 1934.[10][11]

In 2019, theTrump Organizationsued PrinceFaisal bin Abdul Majeed al-Saudfor $1.8 million in back rent.[12]
