Turdi Akhun

Turdi Akhun(simplified Chinese:Thổ nhĩ địch ‧ a hồng;traditional Chinese:Thổ nhĩ địch ‧ a hồng;pinyin:Tǔ'ěrdí Āhóng;1881–1956), sometimes spelledTurdu Ahun,[1]was a traditionalUyghurfolkmusician in theXinjiangregion. He was born into a family with a rich musical history and could perform his music completely from memory, even into his 70s.[2]Prior to his death he, along withOmar Akhun,made a recording of 12muqamsand was recognised as the foremost exponent of this genre.[3]
